Founder Story

Why I created Altara.

When I was sixteen, one moment changed how I see health, life and what the human body can do.

I had just been named Dux of my school. I was full of plans. Then everything changed in an instant.

I was in a near-fatal car accident and suffered life-threatening injuries. I lost more than two litres of blood. My left kidney was torn from its main artery and could not be saved. I was taken straight into emergency surgery. There was bleeding on my brain, a broken jaw and serious trauma to my liver. Before they operated, my parents were told my survival was uncertain. I spent forty days in hospital. I had four major surgeries. The brain injury left me with post-traumatic epilepsy.

The accident reached far beyond me. One of my dear friends, Erica, did not survive that day. Her loss remains one of the great heartbreaks of my life. It is a lasting reminder of how precious and fragile our time really is.

As hard as that chapter was, it gave me a deep appreciation for one of life's greatest gifts. Our health.

It also sparked a lifelong fascination with the human body. Its resilience. Its intelligence. Its remarkable capacity to repair, adapt and recover.

That curiosity led me to study health sciences and neuroscience at Griffith University. I graduated with a GPA of 7.0, received awards for academic excellence and achieved the highest mark in neuroscience in my cohort.

Later, I became a mother to two beautiful children. That deepened my appreciation for what truly matters. Our health is not only a gift to ourselves. It is a gift to the people who love us, rely on us and need us to be well.

Alongside my passion for health and science, I built a career in business, leadership and entrepreneurship. Like so many people, I spent years trying to balance ambition, responsibility, family and the constant demands of modern life. Through it all, I came to understand that health is not separate from the rest of our lives. It is the foundation that lets us lead, create, contribute and live fully.

I know what it feels like to put your own wellbeing at the bottom of the list. I also know the consequences of doing that for too long. That perspective became the foundation Altara was built on.

Years later, my own health became another turning point.

I had lived most of my life with one kidney, so I always understood the importance of protecting my health. Yet, like many people balancing business and family, I often put it last.

Early signs of kidney disease appeared. Persistent fatigue set in. A chronic neuropathy began to affect my daily life. Cardiovascular warning signs prompted further investigation.

Then, one day at home caring for my children, it all came to a head. Paramedics were called. There was real uncertainty about whether what was happening was neurological, cardiovascular or connected to my earlier brain injury. It was a powerful reminder of what truly matters, and how quickly everything else can fall away.

For the first time in years, I paused. I asked myself a question that would change my life. What might be possible if I invested in my health with the same intention I gave to everything else that mattered to me?

That question became a turning point. It moved me from simply managing my health to intentionally investing in it. It came from gratitude and perspective, not fear.

With two young children depending on me, I realised health is not something we can take for granted. It is the foundation that lets us show up for the people we love, pursue meaningful goals and give our best to the world.

I was fortunate to be cared for by exceptional nephrologists, neurologists and cardiologists. Alongside a skilled integrative doctor, I came to understand my health more completely. Through advanced diagnostics, precision and personalised medicine, and a careful, evidence-informed approach, I experienced what healthcare can feel like. Care that seeks to understand the whole person. Care that acts early where appropriate.

For the first time, I felt able to shape my health rather than simply react to it. Altara was born from that experience.

I founded Altara because I believe the future of healthcare is proactive, preventative and personalised. I believe people deserve access to qualified practitioners, advanced diagnostics and long-term healthcare partnerships. Care that helps them understand the factors shaping their health, recognise opportunities earlier and make informed decisions with confidence.

Healthcare should do more than manage illness. It should help people build resilience, maintain their health and create the freedom to live fully. Altara is a practitioner-led clinic created to make that possible. Through precision diagnostics, individualised care and lasting healthcare partnerships.

At the heart of it, my hope is simple. To help more people understand their health, make informed decisions with confidence, and see what becomes possible when health is viewed as the foundation for vitality, purpose and a life well lived. Because health shapes far more than how long we live. It shapes how we show up for the people we love, the goals we pursue and the contribution we make.

Your future health is being written today.

Our Pillars

The pillars that guide our practice.

Insight, precision, practitioner-led care and a long-term view. These are the pillars of how we work. We are a scientific partner, deliberate at every step and accountable to your care over time.

Insight and precision

We start with a clear picture of your biology, then act with precision. Decisions are guided by diagnostics and current research.

Practitioner-led care

Care is practitioner-led, delivered by qualified Australian healthcare practitioners with clinical oversight across your care plan. Your practitioner reviews your biology and discusses your care plan with you.

A long-term view

We take a long view. Your care plan is reviewed as your biology responds over time, with treatment recommended only if clinically appropriate.

Our Approach

How we assess your biology.

Diagnostics still life

Diagnostics first

We begin by measuring your biology. Biomarkers, metabolic profiling and your history are read together so clinical decisions reflect your clinical picture.

Your care plan

A care plan built from your assessment findings and your goals. Evidence-informed, and reviewed as your results and circumstances develop.

Research microscope still life

An ongoing clinical partnership

Your practitioner tracks your biomarkers at scheduled intervals and reviews your care plan as your data and circumstances develop. This is an ongoing partnership, not a single appointment.

Registered Australian medical care

Australia-wide telehealth

Secure consultations Australia-wide, supported by accredited Australian pathology partners. Where in-person care is more appropriate, your practitioner will say so.

Care Standards

Compliance is our foundation.

We see Australian healthcare standards as a strength. They are the foundation of credible, accountable care. These are the standards that shape how we work, every consult, every care plan.

  • Practitioner-led care

  • Accredited Australian pathology

Diagnostics are completed through accredited Australian pathology partners using standard reference ranges and clinically validated panels.

  • Recommended only if clinically appropriate

Any treatment is recommended only where clinically appropriate. Non-prescribing outcomes include advice, referral, monitoring, lifestyle guidance or no treatment.

  • Within Australian regulations

Care is delivered within Australian medical regulations. We do not advertise specific prescription medicines to the public in accordance with Australian regulatory requirements.

Telehealth limitations. Telehealth is not suitable for every situation. Your practitioner may recommend in-person assessment, GP review, specialist referral, further investigation or no treatment depending on your circumstances.

Individual variation. Individual results vary based on your unique biology and commitment to the programme. Assessment findings do not guarantee a particular outcome.
