Diagnostics

Your biology, measured with precision.

Diagnostics-first care, beginning with the Comprehensive Biological Assessment. A clear picture of your biology, reviewed by a qualified Australian healthcare practitioner, before any care plan is discussed.

Why our diagnostics is different

Measured, not assumed.

Traditional health screening is designed to catch disease once clinical thresholds are crossed. A 'normal' result can still leave fatigue, poor recovery or cognitive changes unexplained.

The Comprehensive Biological Assessment reads a considered panel of pathology and biomarkers together, with your history and goals, so your practitioner works with a picture rather than a snapshot.

Our Aim

  • 01

    Understand

Your biology, measured across the systems that matter.

  • 02

    Inform

Your care plan, shaped by what the data shows.

  • 03

    Track

Your progress over time, refined as your biology responds.

The Assessment Framework

Your biology, measured across many dimensions.

The Comprehensive Biological Assessment reads a considered panel of markers together. Some are included as standard; others are added where clinically indicated for your circumstances; and where ongoing care extends, markers may be reviewed over time as your biology responds.

Testing area In assessment Where clinically indicated Reviewed over time
Foundational metabolic
Fasting glucose
Fasting insulin regulation
HbA1c
Cardiovascular
Standard lipid markers
Inflammatory risk indicators
Advanced cardiovascular risk profiling
Liver and kidney function
Filtration, detoxification and protein synthesis markers
Blood and immune health
Red and white blood cell markers
Iron storage markers
Expanded iron transport and utilisation
Inflammation and recovery
Systemic inflammation indicators
Muscle integrity and recovery markers
Hormonal health
Thyroid function

Adrenal and stress-related hormones
Autoimmune thyroid screening
Nutrient and micronutrient status
Core micronutrients relevant to energy and immunity
Expanded nutrient and mineral profiling
B-vitamin and methylation status
Metabolic precision markers

The panels above are illustrative. Your practitioner selects the markers relevant to your assessment. Not every marker is appropriate for every person.

How Your Results Are Used

From measurement to a considered plan

How Your Results Are Used

From measurement to a considered plan

  1. 01

    Your assessment

You complete a structured assessment of your history, current context and goals. It takes the guesswork out of your first consultation and gives your practitioner a clear starting point.

    • Completed online, before your consultation
    • History, lifestyle and goals captured together
    • No referral required to begin
  2. 02

    Practitioner review

A qualified Australian healthcare practitioner reviews your responses and identifies the markers worth investigating, so your consultation begins with a considered plan rather than a blank page.

    • Reviewed by a qualified Australian practitioner
    • Markers selected for your biological baseline
    • Your consultation shaped around your biology
  3. 03

    Accredited pathology

Where clinically appropriate, accredited Australian pathology partners run the panels your practitioner has selected. Results return for clinical review, read alongside your history.

    • Accredited Australian laboratories
    • Panels selected for your assessment
    • Results read in your full clinical context
  4. 04

    Your care plan

Your practitioner discusses your results and a care plan shaped around your assessment. Recommendations are made only if clinically appropriate, and may include advice, referral, monitoring or lifestyle guidance.

    • Discussed with you in consultation
    • Recommended only if clinically appropriate
    • Reviewed over time as your biology responds
Compliance and Transparency

Considered care, within regulation.

Altara is built to operate within Australian healthcare regulations. Diagnostics are the beginning of a considered clinical conversation, never an end in themselves.

  • Practitioner-led throughout

Every assessment is reviewed by a qualified Australian healthcare practitioner. Diagnostics are not read in isolation from your history, your goals or the way your biology is responding.

  • Accredited Australian pathology

Pathology is completed through accredited Australian laboratories using standard reference ranges and clinically validated panels. Where clinically indicated, your practitioner may request additional panels.

  • Recommended only if clinically appropriate

Any treatment is recommended only where clinically appropriate. Non-prescribing outcomes include advice, referral, monitoring, lifestyle guidance or no treatment. We do not advertise specific prescription medicines to the public in accordance with Australian regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinated with your existing care

Where clinically appropriate, results may be shared with your GP or broader care team to support coordinated care. Coordination happens only with your consent.

Telehealth limitations. Telehealth is not suitable for every situation. Your practitioner may recommend in-person assessment, GP review, specialist referral, further investigation or no treatment depending on your circumstances.

Individual variation. Individual results vary based on your unique biology and commitment to the programme. Assessment findings do not guarantee a particular outcome. Pathology testing does not guarantee access to any specific medication or therapy.

Common Questions

Questions about diagnostics.

The questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, you can contact our team.

It's the structured first step before your consultation. You complete an assessment of your history, current context and goals online, which a qualified Australian healthcare practitioner reviews to shape a consultation around your biology. It takes the guesswork out of your first appointment.

No referral is required to begin your assessment. If your practitioner believes coordinated care with your GP would be helpful, they will discuss this with you and proceed only with your consent.

Where clinically appropriate, your practitioner can request pathology and other diagnostics through accredited Australian laboratories. Tests are billed separately at standard rates. Each biomarker is selected to clarify your biological picture.

The assessment is the service we offer. Bloodwork is part of understanding your biology, not an end in itself. Results are always reviewed by your practitioner in the context of your history.

We are launching with the Comprehensive Biological Assessment. Pathology and biomarkers and ongoing monitoring are part of the same diagnostics approach and will be detailed on their own pages as they become available.

Consultations are conducted Australia-wide via secure telehealth. Telehealth is not suitable for every situation. Your practitioner may recommend in-person assessment, GP review, specialist referral, further investigation or no treatment depending on your circumstances. In a medical emergency, call 000.
